"Getting People Better"
A Note From the Queen
Dear Subscriber,
I just finished a class on detoxification and weight management by Dr. Bond, he has a practice in Ohio. His class was teaching us, Doctors and therapists, how we can better help our clients with detoxification and weight reduction. He empowered the class with his tools and knowledge on this subject. I am excited to be bringing this information to my existing nutritional business.
During the class, I also learned how important it is to bring the bodies energy up by healing the adrenals (stress) and the endocrine system (hormones). It is easy with the right tools. Once the body is in alignment, then the body can cleanse, and the side effect of this is loosing weight.
Eve, my sister, is now living here and working with me. She has been trained in homeopathy and is getting certified in Nutritional Therapy. We are both going to start doing what we learned in the class on each other, and then our staff, then you, our wonderful client.
Tidbits >From The Staff
From Eve:
I have been working with Dawn for over a month now. I have to tell you I remember sitting around the table many times and teasing and laughing about what Dawn did and the business she was in. She, of course, laughed along with us. What else could she do?
Dawn started her business, Fountain of Health over 16 years ago. Now that I'm here and working along side her, I get it! I understand what she does. All the classes she goes to, all the educating, all the knowledge she shares, all of her love of the clients, she has stuck it out and has kept with her vision, always working toward bringing life to her vision. I'm so proud of her and what she is creating. I am honored to be a part of the vision and the team.
Classes
The skin formation class, taught by Erika, went well. We are working diligently to offer more classes for the improvement of our client's health. Stay tuned!

The Truth About GERD
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid contents move up through the diaphragm into the esophagus. Although the stomach lining is made to handle these strong acids, the esophagus is not. Constant acid reflux into the esophagus may cause damage, ulcerations, or even develop into a pre cancerous condition called Barrett's Esophagus.
There is no agreed upon cause for GERD, but the greatest number of GERD suffers have inadequate digestive juice in their stomachs. The stomach is all about acid, having a ph of 1.5 - 3.0. If the stomach acids are not strong enough, the stomach contents begin to putrefy, which leads to gas, bloating, belching, and reflux. Stomach acids bathes, disinfects, and kills bacteria and parasites. It activates pepsin, so we can digest protein. Anti-acids and acid blockers may bring temporary relief, but as we know, suppressive therapies often result in chronic conditions. The most common causes of GERD are:
* reduced production of digestive fluids
* poor diet
* Overeating before bed, and eating sweets and starch with protein.
* food allergies
* dysbiosis
* prescription drug use
* mechanical problems in the diaphragm or sphincter, which separates the stomach and esophagus
* liver problems
Treatment for GERD begins with reasonable dietary modifications, such as not overeating before bedtime and avoiding processed foods, sweets and sodas, etc. Drinking plenty of pure water is also important. It is important to understand that the body does not produce HCL when in a sympathetic state (fight or flight) most Americans are in this stressed state and don't even realize it. It is very important to understand digestion is a North to South process, what this means is, digestion starts in the brain. You need to be relaxed in order to properly digest foods. Taking 3 deep breathes, breathing in through your nose, down into your abdomen, then releasing through your nose, puts your body into a parasympathetic state (rest and digest)
Do a test by taking a small amount of hydrochloric acid (HCL) during the middle of you main meal. If that dosage does not upset your stomach, then slowly increase the dosage over the next several days. Proceed only when the acid is well tolerated. Find the dose where excellent digestion is experienced. The majority of clients will experience relief of GERD and its' related symptoms when they find their optimum dosage.
Many individuals will need to take HCL with meals for a while until there bodies readjust and they begin to produce their own HCL. Others may be deficient in factors required to make hydrochloric acid and other digestive products. These individuals will need supplements. B vitamins, especially thiamin, minerals, are especially needed for optimal digestion. Last month,
If GERD continues, even after reasonable diet and HCL supplementation, a trial elimination diet may be considered to look for hidden food sensitivities. High on the list of such foods is wheat, and all grains (except rice), all dairy (except butter), beer, wine, coffee, corn, soy, peanuts, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and other night shades, as well as food additives and preservatives. Start the elimination diet by removing sugar and processed foods.
Approximately 90% of Americans produce too little HCL.
-Jonathon Wright, MD, came to this conclusion using Heidelberg Gastrotelemetry equipment to check the stomach pH of thousands of patients.
-Dr. George Goodhart, Chiropractor, came to the same conclusion using kinesiological analysis and function assessment.

Digestion: is the process of converting the foods we eat into substance our bodies can eventually absorbs at the cellular level. Digestive enzymes are proteins that break down the fats, proteins, and carbohydrates we ingest so our tissues and organs can use them the digestive process has a domino effect on our overall health. Ours bodies cannot assimilate nutrients from the foods we eat, unless they are properly digested. We can buy all-natural foods and use cooking techniques designed top preserve food integrity, but in the4 absence of thorough digestion and enzymatic action, the cell in our bodies will fail to get all the nutrients these foods can provide. Protein digestion, in particular, is essential to cellular health. Undigested protein decomposes in the intestines, never reaching intended cellular targets and often causing gastrointestinal discomfort.
Recipes For Your Health
GREENS WITH PINTO BEANS
4 to 6 servings
Dark leafy greens are essential in detoxification. Originally, this Southwestern dish was made by the Pueblo Indians with wild greens. More contemporary recipes call for spinach or chard instead. Try this side with a tortilla, or with a big taco salad.
* 1 pound spinach or Swiss chard
* 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
* 2 or 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 3 scallions, white and green parts, finely chopped
* 1 cup cooked pinto beans
* 1 teaspoon chili powder
* Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Stem and wash the greens. If you're using chard, make sure to trim the thicker mid-ribs as well. Steam the greens in a tightly covered pot until wilted. The spinach will be done as soon as it wilts, but the chard needs to steamed longer. It will be done when it turns a dark green. Drain the greens and finely chop them.
Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the garlic and saute`; over low heat until it just begins to turn golden. Add the scallions and saute`; just until they soften a bit. Stir in the greens, beans and seasonings. Cook, covered, over low heat for 5 minutes, or just until everything is well heated through.
