"People Getting Better"
A
Note From the Queen
Dear Subscriber,
I want to share with you a video ad I did for the Sacramento News & Review. http://www.fountainofhealth.com/index2.php

I just hired a new nutritionist, Melissa. The staff members are all saying, "I really like her, she's smart, she really fits in." Now that Melissa is here we will implement Heart Rate Variability (HRV) testing. HRV tests how the heart reacts with the client first lying down and then standing up. The result is a picture of the client's state of health. I know we all agree that if we are not aware of an issue, we're not able to do anything about it. If we know that there is something wrong, we can fix it. Studies now show that the beat of the heart affects all the other organs. If the variability of the heart's beat is good, the organs have a good rhythm to follow. Check out the website for the device, it's amazing. http://www.nerveexpress.com
We are performing this test for you at no cost. Yes, I know, you're very welcome. We are we doing this for free because we take your health and our job seriously. You came to us to improve your health As we learn and grow we want to continue taking good care of you.
Just call 456-4600 and make your appointment with Melissa, It's that easy. I look forward to seeing you!

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Truth be told, I'm pretty enamored with the beginning of every season. I like change. I hope you are enjoying the cool mornings and nights like I am.
This week I listened to a classic lecture by Dr. Royal Lee, the founder of Standard Process. They make the whole food supplements that we carry. Dr. Lee is the most brilliant, unassuming man and I am going to share a story told by Dr. Lee's master practitioner, Mark Anderson. I think it will pique your interest. This story was on the human immune system. GOOD STUFF!
This story takes place at the turn of the century in a farmhouse. A little girl is sick with diphtheria. She was in a fever coma. A doctor is sent for and upon assessing the situation he tells the mother, "I am sorry, there is nothing I can do for her. Keep her as comfortable as you can, I'll be back in the morning to help you make arrangements for her."
These were very hardy country folks who liked to hear the news straight up, no beating around the bush. After the doctor left, the mother decided to do what her grandmother had told her. Her grandmother said, "If someone is sick with diphtheria, gather all the lemons you can. While the person has a fever you drip, drip, drip the lemon juice in their mouth all night long, for as long as it takes. This will break the fever."
The mother sent her kids out to the neighboring farms with instructions to get as many lemons as possible and all during the night she dripped lemon juice in her little girl's mouth.
The good doctor arrived about six o'clock the next morning and was shocked to see the little girl sitting up in bed, being fed soup by her mother. "What on earth happened last night?," the doctor asked. The mother told him that upon his diagnosis of impending death she decided to use an old remedy. To her amazement the doctor told her, "I've heard of that remedy." "Then why didn't you tell me about it?" The doctor replied, "Ma'am, I am required to use professional remedies to help patients."
Let that sink in for a moment. Professional remedies, i.e. pharmaceuticals. The other name for Diphtheria is Fulminating Scurvy. Fulminating means 'to happen with lightning speed.' So, we have a bacteria that creates intense scurvy, a scurvy that strikes with lightning speed. The doctor was willing to let the little girl die because he didn't have a pharmaceutical equivalent of whole food vitamin C. Appalling!
Whole food nutrition is AMAZING! God put everything we need to heal right here for us. We just need to figure out what whole foods do what and when to use them. That's my job. I have been learning so much, and I'm sure I will never be done learning.
When the human machine gets out of balance, there are nutrients that can restore homeostasis or balance. I've learned some very simple things you can do to support the immune system. It is very exciting to have such incredible tools in your tool chest.
To your HEALTH!

Before there was medicine, there was food.....
Pomegranates top the list when it comes to ancient healing benefits. Physicians in Greece prescribed pomegranate juice as a treatment for arthritis, circulation disorders, viruses and digestive problems.
Pomegranate seed oil can be effective in treating dry skin, eczema, wrinkles, wound healing, psoriasis and sunburned skin. Studies have shown that pomegranate oil is effective at killing cancer cells when applied topically.
Pomegranate is a key ingredient in skin and sun care products. This exotic fruit has a high content of potent antioxidants called polyphenols.
Potent defense
Pomegranates contain an important polyphenol called ellagic acid, a powerful free radical scavenger. It is extremely effective in protecting the DNA in cells from free radical damage and essential in helping the body to recycle hormones such as estrogen which aid in protecting skin cells.
Ellagic acid, along with other polyphenols, inhibits the formation of harmful enzymes that cause cells to grow out of control. Ellagic acid is important in maintaining regular cell division, since unpredictable cell division can lead to cancer.
Pomegranate and SPF
Due to its powerful benefits, pomegranate extract plays a significant role in protecting the skin from all types of environmental damage--specifically, ultraviolet rays.
Pomegranate also provides a substantial amount of potassium, is high in fiber, and contains vitamin C and niacin, all of which improve your skin and body from the inside out.
One of my favorite facial treatments is our pomegranate peel. It's perfect for my combination skin and also helps maintain elasticity as I get older. (The scent is pretty intoxicating as well). During the holiday season, get your skin looking fresh and glowing and feeling nourished!

Hello Everyone, Tamara here!
I just want to share a story of a client who has had great success with her colonics. For starters, she is very regular. She has about 2 - 3 bowel movements a day. She wanted to get cleaned out, detox, etc. She did a series of about 8 colonics initially, and then was very good about coming in for monthly maintenance. She has been doing that for a couple of years. However, recently she had missed for almost 4 months. She knew she needed to come in. Remember, she was already regular! She had a great colonic and felt absolutely amazing afterward. She (like many other clients, I'm happy to say) was glowing and felt so much better, lighter and had more energy. I feel it's so important for all of us to stay on track with our colonics!! The results show up, every time -- whatever they are supposed to be!
I'll close with this quote from the book Perfect Health, by Deepak Chopra, M.D.
There exists in every person a place that is free from disease, that never feels pain, that cannot age or die. When you go to this place, limitations which all of us accept, cease to exist. They are not even entertained as a possibility.
Make it a great day!

Presents "Trunk Show Treasures"
At: Fountain of Health upstairs in the Learning Center
One Night "ONLY" November 30th
Just like the ancient merchants from millenia past, Tamara Burleson and Sarah McCallister will be teaming up on the Silk Road of Asia in search of the most luxurious and exotic accessories and garments, from Hong Kong to Beijing. No market will be left unexplored.
Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy these magnificent wares. Their trunks will be overflowing with the most unique and exotic Chinese silks, Mongolian cashmere, luxurious pashmina, designer watches, rich leather wallets & hand bags, rare and auspicious art and collectibles and much much more!
Tamara Burleson is my long time friend who has worked at Nordstrom's and Macy's as their perfume and design rep. I have always commented on her great sense of style. When she told me that she and her girlfriend were going to China on their maiden voyage to bring back great stuff, I knew if there was anyone who would pick out awesome finds and great deals, it would be Tamara.
I asked if we could be one of the first trunk shows so our staff and clients could get first pick. Well, she's my friend, I perform colonics on her, so she didn't want to piss me off. If you know what I mean.
I'm really looking forward to this fun event.
We will be meeting upstairs in our NEW "Learning Center." Think Christmas gifts!

Brain Power
More to it than you thought
As I was working with a new client, she warned me not to massage the right side of her abdomen because her doctor had implanted a stint there, to release fluid from her brain. My curiosity quickly arose. I had to ask more questions. She told me that she had a tumor removed from her brain, and during the course of her recovery she had learned a lot about the brain. She told me the brain replenishes its fluid, which consists of salt, glucose, and water, every thirty minutes. She also informed me that the brain is like a sponge floating in fluid. The brain consists of 85% water and if we don't consume enough water, enabling the brain to be fully buoyant inside the skull, it will rest back against the spinal cord. This causes pressure against the spinal cord and that is why we get that tight feeling at the base of our necks, feel tired, or have a headache. If this happens to you, try consuming more fluid and within thirty minutes you should feel a lot better. I found this so interesting that I did some more research on my own Here is what I found.
How Diet Affects Our Brain Power
Excess sugar in the form of refined carbohydrates, poor-quality hydrogenated oils, and inadequate protein can compromise our mental acuity. Have you ever noticed how you feel in the mornings after eating a bagel versus an omelet? A typical New York bagel contains the carbohydrate equivalent of four pieces of bread. An egg contains only one gram of carbohydrate per serving-a negligible amount-and is rich in protein and essential fatty acids. So if you feel like you're eating healthy, but can't seem to generate good mental power, then you may need to take a closer look at your diet.
Protein
Protein is the building block of our tissues. It is needed to make every living cell in our bodies and promote muscle growth. It balances hormones and blood sugar, fights sugar cravings, strengthens the immune system, heals wounds, and in some cases, keeps the gut healthy. But most important, it can have a positive effect on our mental function.
When you are feeling tired or lethargic, having PMS, or having difficulty concentrating at work, and crave stimulants like sugar or coffee, you are most likely deficient in protein. Your symptoms will magically disappear when protein is eaten at every meal.
What are the best sources of proteins to eat? Whole eggs, lean chicken, fish, turkey, lean beef, and lamb are all good sources. Be sure to buy organic products as much as possible to reduce your exposure to antibiotics and pesticides. Eat two to four ounces of protein per meal. If you are physically active, you may need up to twice this amount. I guarantee that you will feel an improvement in mental function and greater energy levels when more protein is added to your diet.
Fats
Fats can have a critical effect on our health and play an important role in the prevention of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Instead of concerning yourself with a low-fat diet, focus on eating the right fats that are rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids and omega-3 fats. Each of these fats improves circulation and helps keep cholesterol levels low and arteries clear. When your arteries are clear, oxygen can be delivered to your organs, especially the brain, more effectively. Unfortunately, most of the foods we eat today contain partially hydrogenated vegetable oils and oxidized fats that are toxic to the body and clog up the arteries. Be sure to read the labels very carefully and avoid these fats at all costs; it can take up to two months to clear them from the body after they are eaten! A general rule of thumb is to simply avoid processed foods and you will avoid the toxic fats. Avocados, flax seed oil, cold-pressed olive oil, olives, raw nuts and seeds, and fatty fishes contain beneficial fats that fight inflammation and will help fight the mental and physical conditions that are prevalent in Westernized countries today.
Carbohydrates
Last but not least, I will address carbohydrates. Before I do, though, let me ask you to think about this: What did we do before the flour mill was invented? We ate whole foods, and carbohydrates were eaten in the form of fruits and vegetables. Over time, we gradually began farming and agriculture developed, introducing whole grains into the diet: rice, quinoa, millet, amaranth, and potatoes. Then we evolved as a civilization and all of a sudden we were eating highly processed carbohydrates, like bread, potato chips, cereal, and pasta--not even distant cousins to the grains from which they grew.
While technology has changed, the body has not yet genetically evolved enough to be able to understand these foods and break them down properly. As a result, many of us feel tired or lethargic after eating too many carbohydrates. I am not saying you should never eat carbohydrates, but if you must, make them high in quality and low in sugar. Choose healthy choices such as fresh fruit, vegetables, beans, brown rice, plain oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and buckwheat. Keep the portion size of grains small and balance them out with plenty of healthy fats and high-quality protein and you will have the mental power of an army!

Testimonials
I discovered "Fountain of Health" while investigating various facilities in the Sacramento area that provide Colonic treatments as part of their service offerings. At the time, I was participating in a "detox" program that strongly suggested a series of Colonics along with other cleansing treatments.
I interviewed a number of treatment facilities, but it became obvious very quickly that Fountain of Health would be my choice. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. After my first consultation, I KNEW this was the right place for me. I felt very comfortable right from the start.
I was amazed at how good l I felt, even after only one treatment. The thing that stands out the most for me was how much energy I felt at first. But it only got better after each treatment. I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks and I attribute that to the Colonics and my focus on eating foods that are better for me - like whole foods.
I originally planned on only just a few treatments to augment my detox. Because of the tremendous success, I have continued with the Colonics as a regular part of my routine for continued and preventative health.
To say Fountain of Health is a great place would be an understatement. My experience there has literally changed my life in a super-positive way.
Thanks, Fountain of Health!
